Donnellans - Plumbing & Heating Specialist

Donnellans approached me to create and develop their brand.
Being a start up company based in the North of England they wanted to be recognised as an established leader in the Plumbing and Heating sectors.
The brand discovery was to create a start up pack that would help Donnellans get up and running before sitting down at a further date to progress the brand further.
In this case the start up pack included Van Graphics, Business Cards, Letterheads, Comp Slips, Uniforms, Flyers, Boiler Stickers, NCR Pads, and a mug or two to keep the workers going.

If you are a start up company or struggling to beat your competitors why not get in touch for a FREE consultation.

D&AD New Blood/Hudd Degree Show

Having taking a few weeks break from updating my blog I thought I better show you what went on at D&AD New Blood, along with the University of Huddersfield Communication Design Degree Show.
D&AD New Blood was fantastic not only was I able to view the competition currently out there in terms of recent graduates but you were able to take in fresh, new inspiration. I was surprised at how many Universities helped the students learn various finishing techniques which really enhanced their piece of work.
During the few days that I was down at New Blood, I went to a couple of talks that were really there to encourage fresh graduates and current students. I came away feeling really inspired.
Here are a few points I made during the talks that really stood out to me, and will encourage me further in my daily routine as a designer:

  • Getting a job is not about having knowledge of the various pieces of software (you can learn that as you develop), but the idea, THE IDEA IS THE KEY.
  • When you made that decision to be a designer, you didn't just become a designer you became an interpreter, an innovator.
  • There is no point hiding behind your mac, you need to GET BUSY, SHARE your ideas with other designers, fill yourself up with inspiration. You make your own destiny!
  • WORK HARD AND BE NICE TO PEOPLE.
I found the whole New Blood Exhibition a great event to attend for all design graduates, and was given positive feed back on all accounts.
Here are some images of my work at New Blood and Hud Uni Degree Show.

D&AD New Blood 2011

After a successful week of showcasing my work at this years degree show at the University of Huddersfield, it is time to dismantle my exhibit in time for D&AD New Blood, London next weekend. It looks to be a full on weekend with young designers from around the UK showcasing their best work. It is especially an exciting weekend for myself, as D&AD I have already arranged a portfolio critic session with Corridor and Sony. Exciting times!

Musette Show

Earlier on in the year the University of Huddersfield was asked by Progress Packaging to take part in a exhibition of limited cycling musettes. I was fortunate enough that my entry got chosen to be in the final five and was recently featured on Progress website. So why not have a further look...

Degree Show '11

The aim of this short two week brief was to design a visual identity for this years Communication Design degree show at the University of Huddersfield. We had to take into consideration the three major disciplines within the Communication Design course. These had to be easily and clearly identified as a way of communication to the unknown passer by.

Below is my own response to the brief, which I believe is clear, sophisticated and answers the brief. Further treatments were made to the brief but here are a selection of images which give you a general understanding of the outcome.
